Part 1: Vision Board Directions

1. Decide on the format for your vision board. Do you want to create a digital version of your vision board as a PowerPoint slide or Word document to be printed out and hung? Do you want to create a vision board by cutting images from magazinesmost libraries and doctors offices have a cart of old onesusing printed images from the Internet, using stickers, or drawing images yourself? Do you want to create a vision item, such as a basketball or a graduation cap, that represents a goal to use as the backdrop to apply your images?
2. Select the images, words, stickers, and other items for your vision board. You may choose to include images that you are drawn to without really knowing why. The meaning behind the image can unfold over time as you regularly reflect on your vision board. As you consider selecting images and quotes to include on your vision board, consider the questions below, which are intended to spark mental images of your values, aspirations, and goals for your future.
   • What are my short-term goals?
   • What are my long-term goals?
   • What new activities am I interested in trying?
   • What are my values?
   • If I were granted one wish, it would ..
   • If I were not afraid, I would....
   • What am I passionate about?
   • What do I dream about for my future?
   • What do I like about my current job?
   • What do I like to do for fun?
3. Make it. Arrange and apply your selected items, so they are visually appealing and neat on your vision board/item.
4. Submit your vision board to Canvas. Depending on how you elected to create your vision board, upload a file or jpeg photo of your vision board to Canvas.
5. Display your vision board. Find a place to display your vision board, so you will see it multiple times every day.

Part 2: Reflection Paper Directions

After creating and displaying your vision board, you will answer the following reflection questions about creating your vision board.

1. For each image or quote used in your vision board, explain why you included it as part of your vision board.
2. As you look at your completed vision board, can you think of an image you omitted? Explain the significance of leaving something out of your vision board.
3. What did you find to be the greatest challenge in the creative process of making your vision board? Do you have a sense of what that might signify to you?
4. What did you enjoy most about creating your vision board?
5. Do you see any themes or patterns in what you chose to include on your vision board? Explain what these themes or patterns mean to you.
6. Which of the dreams or goals depicted on your vision board do you feel most confident in achieving? Explain why you feel so confident in achieving this dream over all the others on your vision board.
7. Which dream or goal do you feel will be the most difficult to achieve? What have you learned from taking IDS 1107 that will help you to achieve this dream and not become discouraged along the way?
8. Where did you choose to display your vision board? Why did you select this display site over other sites?
9. How often or when do you plan to reflect on your vision board?

Format

Students should use the following format for their written assignment:

1. Each question should have a response of 3 to 5 sentences.
2. Responses should be written in paragraphs.
3. Use Times New Roman, 12-point font.
4. Use double spacing with a 1-inch margin.
5. Use professional language.
