Part of the current administration's immigration policy has resulted in increased incarceration of undocumented immigrants, including minors, in detention centers throughout the U.S. and the barring of entry by asylum seekers at the southern border, creating huge open air migrant camps along the Mexican side of the border. These camps lack clean and running water and any type of sanitation. Covid 19 is now present in every state in the U.S. including every state bordering Mexico. It is present in El Paso, TX, which sits directly on that border, and very close to the border in AZ. How will the overcrowding in U.S. immigration detention facilities and the conditions along the southern border impact the costs of Covid 19 to the U. S. economy?
