Part of what we read this week deals with how we define racism, how others define it, and in turn how it is used to subjugate or challenge our own views and ideas about ourselves and about others. With that in mind, I want you to be self-reflexive about your feelings and reactions to the items you read and watched this week. What was new to you, what made you stop and think, what ideas or theory intrigued you and made you evaluate either yourself or someone else in a different light? Was there a term, an idea, an example that really struck a cord with you, and caused a moment of introspection? Or, if you feel that these are all ideas and concepts you have grappled with before, what idea would you wish us a a class to better understand from your own experience? In what ways can you supplement the readings and video, and give us a more personal intimate understanding of the topic you identify with. This type of introspection can be difficult, but often it forces us to think and write in a deeper way, so our expressions begin to be shared more openly.
