Peer Review Process and TimeframeThe JISE review process follows the following steps: An author submits a manuscript to the Editor at editor@jise.org. The Editor acknowledges receipt of the manuscript $($usually within $1-3$ days$).$ If you do not receive an acknowledgement within $7$ days, please send a follow$-$up email to the Editor. The Editor sends the manuscript to an Associate Editor $($AE$)$ for an initial assessment which is expected to be completed within two weeks. If the manuscript is suitable for further review, it is sent to a total of five Senior Editorial Board $($SEB$)$ and Editorial Board $($EB$)$ members for their comments and reviews. They are expected to complete the reviews within four weeks. With the reviews in hand, the Editor makes a first decision regarding the manuscript, including conditional acceptance $($very rare$),$ minor revision, major revision, or rejection and notifies the author $($with the reviews attached$).$ For a conditional acceptance, authors are expected to make minor improvement according to the reviewers' comments and format the paper accordingly to the Publication Formatting. The fully formatted paper will be reviewed by the Editor for final acceptance. For a minor revision, the revised paper will be assessed by a Senior Editor $($SE$)$ on whether the authors have adequately and appropriately addressed the reviewers' concerns, and whether the SE has any additional concerns with the paper. In this process, the SE will receive the revised paper, the document of revision, the original paper, and the original reviews. The SE is expected to complete their assessment within three weeks. For a major revision, the revised paper will go through the review process again with a new set of five SEB and EB members, but it will skip the initial assessment by an AE$.$ Depending on whether the SE has additional concerns or not, the Editor can make a conditional acceptance with or without requesting further work from the authors. The initial review process from start to finish requires between $2-3$ months.This can be shorter when reviewers complete their reviews quickly, but it can also be longer due to delays such as vacations and busy times of the academic year.
