For Anna Eliopoulos, it's hard to believe it all started in 1982 in the corner of a small 65-seat restaurant that she ran with her husband Peter. "People kept asking me: What can we give for Christmas?" says Eliopoulos, when asked about the start of Peter & Paul's Gifts, Baskets, and Promotional Items. "That's how the whole concept started. We put gourmet food into baskets that our customers could give to family, friends, or whoever was on their list." What started as casual requests from customers to package boxes of chocolate and cookies grew to the setup of a small area in the restaurant While the baskets were originally only prepared for the Holiday rush, Eliopoulos grew the business into a year-round venture ? and that required her own shop. A far cry from the company's expansive current showroom at 8601 Jane St. in Concord, it was the start of something very big. And the baskets were no longer just for individuals. PPGs counts builders Menkes, Tridel, and City Place among their numerous corporate clients who recognize the value of a custom-made gift basket (or, more appropriately, simply a gift) ? whether given as an incentive or, in the case of many of the builders, as a home closing/warming gift. Corporate clients have grown to be the number one source of revenue for PPG.
