In teams of up to three, students will design a five-day, four-night outdoor adventure itinerary for Vancouver Island. The tour should start OR end in Nanaimo. Students are encouraged to think outside the box and incorporate adventures, destinations and unique tour offerings highlighting the Island.
Phase 1: Risk assessment system | Due February 27,2024(Value 10%)
Create a written description of the business/trip (up to two pages). Think of this as the marketing information that will be presented to potential clients and/or a CEO or insurance company to receive approval to add these this tour. Add the dates, time of year (season) and identify the target market (who is best suited to participate). This information should be present on both Phase 1 and Phase 2.
Please refer to the template example posted on VIULearn. You MUST incorporate the tables/charts as in the template + provide a detailed analysis of each chart/table
(approximately a half page to 2/3 page per chart). I expect to see direct connections to course materials and/or credible government sources to support your work (with a citation).
Design a risk assessment system for your business/tour as follows:
Risk identification (presented in table format):
o List the inherent risks associated with the activities you propose; o Identify the risks and hazards as objective or subjective;
o Explain the rationale for each hazard with a direct connection to course materials or credible government sources to support your work (with a citation).
Risk evaluation matrices o Create the following risk evaluation matrices to classify the risks you identified in the previous step in each matrix.
Perceived vs actual actual risk matrix
Severity and frequency matrix o Explain each matrix and provide details about your decision for where you plotted the risks: Provide a 1-2 paragraph explanation for each matrix (explaining your decision).
o An explanation MUST be provided for each chart.
Create a Risk Spectrum and color code your spectrum. Include all the different activities; o Explain how your risk spectrum will influence business decisions made (think about staff training, participant communication, emergency responses, feedback loops, communication strategies, etc.)
A cover page and references page in APA format are required.
Information from Phase 1 will be used to support your work in Phase 2. However, you will not include Phase 1 information into Phase 2. You will want to ensure you incorporate any feedback from the professor into the comprehensive DRAFT to ensure you have a detailed response.
Written Assignment Requirements
All written submissions must adhere to the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style 7th edition. Significant learner resources are available through the VIU Writing Centre and on VIU Learn. Accurate bibliography/referencing is required.
