Phase $1-$ System Overview & Use Cases

Problem Statement

Organizations have numerous processes and systems they use to fulfill their day$-$to$-$day duties and the

University of Dayton is no different. You, as a student, have interacted with many of these processes and

experienced some of the challenges they may have. This is your opportunity to propose an improved

system that removes the difficulties you have experienced.

Objectives

Your system must include processes for applying to the university, scheduling classes, withdrawing from

a class, final class grade submission, changing your major, viewing your transcript, and graduation.

Your Task

Your task in this assignment is to start defining the system via the context level data flow diagram,

context level entity relationship model, and use cases discussed in class. These should be presented in a

cohesive document that is readable and captures all essential information we have discussed in class.

You may choose the organization of your document but a template will be provided for guidance.

Information Gathering

I have created a Discussion topic on the class Canvas site where you can ask questions directly to the

$$users$$ to gather additional information about current processes.

Deliverables

You are required to turn in a PDF document with a context level data flow diagram, context level entity

relationship model, use case scenarios and a use case diagram. Only one submission per team is needed

on Canvas. Ensure your document has a tile page with the phase number and all names of the group

members.

This assignment is intended for you to get feedback and prepare for more in$-$depth diagrams in later

phases. Please still take this assignment seriously and ensure you have time to complete the

assignment.
