QUESTION THREE Part A The Cash at Bank in the ledger of Zack Enterprise showed a balance of $22,569 DR on 30 September, 2014. This bank ledger balance had been calculated before receipt of the bank statement for the month. The bank statement for the month of September 2014 shows a balance of $76,980 CR. A comparison of Zack Enterprise's Cash at Bank account with the bank statement identified the following information: The bank statement showed a dishonoured cheque of $1,625 that had been received by a customer of Zack Enterprise. The bank had accidentally credited an amount of $55,000 in the bank statement; it was later confirmed that the deposit does not belong to Zack Enterprise. Cheque No. 138 was correctly written and subsequently paid by the bank for $209. The cash payment journal reflects an entry for Cheque No. 138 as a debit to Accounts Payable and a credit to Cash at Bank for $290. The collection of a note amounting to $1,500 only appeared on the bank statement. This amount does not appear in the accounting records. - The bank statement includes a credit for $500 for interest earned by Zack Enterprise, which is not included in the Cash at Bank account. Cheques issued by Zack Enterprise but not yet presented to the bank totalled $5,000.
