Please edit and add in sources to help support what i wrote. In Wales which is apart of the United Kingdom one of the languages was called Welsh which is also at times referred to as Cymraeg. The Welsh language is considered to be a Brittonic language because it has roots in British Celtic languages and it is also included in the Breton and Cornish. The cultural groups that mostly used Welsch as a spoken language were the celtic Britons, they were a group of iron age people who lived in what is now wales, England and southern Scotland. The second cultural group was the post-roman Britons this group consisted of people who left britain in roughly the early 5th century and evolved into distinct regions with the Welsch speaking area turning into wales. The Welsh language has a very rich literary tradition and history that roughly dates back to 4,000 years ago.
In the Britannica expiation, it explains the Welsh language as having grammatical categories as noun case and verb tense. There are key characteristics of the Welsch language for example their alphabet uses the Latin alphabet, with some additional letters and digraphs like ll,dd,ff, and rh. The pronunciation from this language is considered to be advanced and difficult for those who are non-native speakers due to the use of sounds that are not found in the English language and the voiceless alveolar lateral fricative. In addition to these key characteristics the grammar used in Welsch has a VSO or verb-subject-object word order, which compared to the English language follows a very different way which is SVO or subject-verb-object. The dialect of the Welsch language varies from region to region and as a result of this different words can have a varying meaning depending on where the person is speaking and the pronunciation of the word they are using as well. The last key characteristic of the Welsch language is that its literature has a very long tradition dating back to the 6th century. The literary works that are composed of the Welsch language has been poetry, prose, and religious texts.
