Part II: Series Circuit Purpose: To analyze mathematical relationships between quantities for series circuits. Getting Ready: Navigate to the DC Circuit Builder Interactive at The Physics Classroom: Plain text link: https://www.physicsclassroom.com/Physics- Interactives/ElectricCircuits. Note that the electric potential (Voltage) values are listed on the diagram at the corner of every square on the grid. Current values are listed on the ammeters. To change a battery voltage or a resistor value, select the second icon at the bottom of the screen; a magnifying glass appears above the circuit element. Adjust the voltage or the resistance using the up/down arrows next to the digital meter. Build, Measure, and Analyze: Build the circuit shown with three resistors, four ammeters and a battery. Determine the values of current (amps) and electric pressure (volts) at the indicated locations. For your lab report, write the required values on the circuit shown, or replace the circuit with a screenshot of your circuit in the simulation with all the required values. V = Volt-i I = Volts K I = Amps K V = Valli l = Amp-i V = \\"ulls 1. Set the battery voltage and the resistor values. For resistors 1, 2, and 3, calculate the electric potential difference (Voltage) and fill in table 2. Page 3 of 7 Table 2, Part 11. Electric potential difference, current and resrstarice Element Electric Potential Current (I) Resistance (R) Difference (AV) B 40 1 25 Q 2 25 Q 3 25 Q 2. 4low does the current in each resistor (11, 12, and 13) compare to one another and to the current in the battery (15)? 3. 4low does the electric potential difference across the battery (AVE) compare to the summative electric potential differences of the three resistors (AV1 + AVz + AV3)? 5. Calculate the ratio of electric potential difference to current for the battery. AVE/IE = How does this ratio compare to the resistance values of the resistor? 6. Change the values of the battery voltage and the resistance of the resistors so that each resistor has a different resistance. Then make measurements and complete table 3. Table 3, Part 2. Electric potential difference, current and re5istance Element Electric Potential Current (I) Resistance (R) Difference (AV) B 1 2 3
