Most unionized private-sector employers would agree that their workers unions must:

1. help those they represent continuously acquire the knowledge, skills, and flexibility valued by their employers, and
2. articulate worker preferences and ensure individual due process for workers without restricting quality, customer service, operating efficiency, and flexibility.

Explain why these or other union actions are necessary for union bargaining influence and to strengthen an advancing global economy.
