I think that to some extent that it's good to have the government's financial incentive because it would encourage some people to speak up about misconduct within their workplace. However, there are times that external whistleblowing isn't the safest and or best option for people. I think that money will encourage some people to report misconduct, but there are other people who won't be safe and/or won't have job security after reporting misconduct. I think there should be more precautions for people who externally whistle blow, whether that is protection or a secured job. Most of all, I think that there should be government support for improving internal whistleblowing because issues could be resolved without risking a person's wellbeing and gives a company the opportunity to fix issues internally without government interference.

I would report misconduct because it could help people and help a company remain ethical. Different factors however could change how I report it, whether it be internally or externally. If the company had a good internal reporting system that actually handled misconduct then I would report internally, but if that company doesn't take care of the problem or if that company was corrupt then I would report externally as it could risk people's wellbeing if I don't report it externally. I would be discouraged to report misconduct in organizations if it meant that I was in danger or if it meant that I lost my job, possibly not being able to get another one. If I couldn't report the misconduct safely, then I would probably leave the company since I need to ensure that I'm safe, have a job, and so I don't have to associate with an unethical company.
