The article I found this week correlates with my discussion post last week. It seems that since the election, there has been increasing discussions about a COVID vaccine. With that being said, the Pfizer vaccine is getting a lot of attention for being among the most ready to be implemented. Although there are no vaccines that have been FDA approved for mass distribution, many people feel hopeful while others remain skeptical. This article states that this Pfizer vaccine isover 90% effective in minimizing COVID symptoms, as opposed to the initially hypothesized 60-70% effectiveness. The other main point of the article estimatedthat over 50 million vaccines may be available and distributed by the end of 2020 which is less than two monthsh away. The purpose of this article is to instill hope in the population that a vaccine will be available and effective in the near future. The 90% effectiveness rate may also convince skeptics to become more trusting of the new vaccine. This directly effects patient and healthcare staff because front line workers and people with underlying conditions would be top priority to receive a vaccine once approved. This vaccine remains in the thirdj trial stage and has much more testing yto undergo before it may be implemented at a large scale. Some may also argue that the timing of this news is suspicious since it was announced so soon after the election.
