When it comes to my two words that I want to discuss, I choose period and wave. Being a female, I have prior familiarity with this word, but period in everyday life is used for different things for example when you are in school, they teach about the period symbol you use to end a statement. For this lesson in physics it means, the time it takes to complete one oscillation. The different is that one is used in sentences, and you see them when reading and the other meaning in physics is when an oscillation has one full completion. Now if you wanted you could compare the meaning for a female, which would be a period a female has once a month, because in a way the physics meaning is time it takes to complete one full oscillation, the female meaning would be time it takes for one period cycle to complete.

The second word is wave. If you have ever went to the beach, you have familiarity with the word wave. Now in physics the meaning means a disturbance that moves from its source and carries energy. The everyday life meaning could be a motion on the ocean shore or even a hand motion. The similarities are similar if you compare the beach meaning and the physic meaning. The differences are they are in different meaning one is in water and the other one works in a more scientific way.(wk7 kate discuss)
