On the Fly is currently delivering daily for the small box stores around South Florida. The company has been able to pay its drivers a great hourly rate plus tips for each delivery they make. This has been a successful business model, allowing the company to hire great drivers, resulting in very happy customers. However, recently, many big box companies have started offering their drivers higher wages as well as better benefits. You are being forced to look at your pay model to prevent losing your amazing drivers. In order to increase employee wages, you will have to raise delivery fees, but if you cannot offer competitive wages, you may lose a bulk of your drivers.
This is a description of how the Crisis Management team activated the situation:
The CMT was alerted by Brielle Mirabal, who contacted the other members of the crisis management team upon learning in a report that big box companies are outcompeting our driver compensation offers. Upon personal contact from Brielle, the crisis management team met together in the command center to discuss how to move forward with our driver compensation.
Brielle Mirabal brought the crisis management team together and later spoke to general management on the actions needed to take on increasing compensation. She routinely got updates from the Jessica Cohen on how the drivers were feeling and what they expected as manager-driver negotiations moved forward.
Erin Vassil coordinated the swift arrival of the crisis management team in the command center and compiled the data we have on our drivers and their compensation packages.
Jessica Cohen provided the data used in the command center meeting, both on our own compensation and those that other companies were offering. She also recorded all the proposed ideas in the meeting and facilitated later communication with the other members of the team.
Michael Steward began negotiations with the drivers to both raise compensation and to gauge the satisfaction of the drivers with the current compensation package.
Jake Gomez was present in the meeting as the financial advisor regarding what sort of compensation we could reasonably provide. He provided an understanding of how far we can push it before we start operating at a negative.
