Person 1(Beth):

There is no doubt that the advancements being made in technology have been very beneficial to the world, but even with innovation happening all around us everyday, it still seems that technology cannot fix everything, even as much as we would like it too. Today we are experiencing low productivity numbers, declining wages, and slow growth. I think that these problems can be attributed to shortages in the workforce, burnout, and an uncertain economy. If workers are burnt out, or people just aren't working, then this will cause low productivity and slow growth because workers are unmotivated to do their job efficiently or there are not enough workers to do the job in a timely manner. An unpredictable economy can cause businesses and companies to be more cautious with their money, which could lead to them paying their workers less so that they can be more financially prepared it something were to go wrong. Even with new advancements and new discoveries everyday, if we don't have a stable working environment that we can count on, then our productivity levels will start to see the affect.

I believe that marginal utility adds to real value. The greater the marginal utility is, the greater the real value of something is. If consumers are willing to buy more of a product, which is what marginal utility is, then the real value of the company producing the product should essentially be greater because they are selling more of it. Technology, in my opinion, seems to be a win-lose situation. On one hand, there are so many great and helpful things that come from technology like medical discoveries and transportation and communication advancements, even small things to make our everyday lives easier like washing machines. But with all the good that has come from it, we cannot ignore the fact that it has also created some bad. Even though the government and companies and people try to do things to prevent the dark side of technology, it is inevitable and sometimes the only thing that can be done is to suffer the consequences and hope to learn from them. Technology is an indicator of of GDP growth and it does play a hand in the "state of well-being." Like I discussed previously, technology is not all good and a lot of times people suffer negative consequences because of it. These negative affects can cause a negative state of well-being. The same can be said when technology creates positive affects. Technology also affects our GDP growth because if we have more efficient and advanced ways of providing goods and services or transporting them, then we can produce more and distribute them better.

Wealth is essentially the amount of assets of a person, company, business, country, etc. These assets can come from assets such as money, resources, land, and real estate to name a few. Wealth can look very different to people depending on where you live. Back then, wealth could maybe be estimated by your farmland and livestock that you owned, now people mainly determine wealth off of how much money you have.

Raw materials are the foundation for most products that are produced. By using technology, workers use their time and resources to turn these raw materials into the products that we use everyday. Without certain technologies, we would not be able to produce certain products. Every product starts out as something simple, and with the help of technology, we are able to turn these raw materials into something new and add value to them.

Efficiency and productivity go hand in hand. Technology plays a big factor in this. For the most part, it seems that technology is an excellent way to boost efficiency, which will help boost productivity. However, sometimes technology may not be as efficient as we would hope, which would then create a negative affect on productivity. This is not always the case, but that does not mean it will not happen. Technology is supposed to make jobs easier, but sometimes that does not always happen. But when everything runs as it is supposed to, the result are usually favorable.

Innovation has allowed us to get our way out of many problems, so with time, I think that we can innovate our way out of whatever problem is at hand. Demographics play into innovation in various ways. Age, for example, is one way. Someone who is in their 40s or 50s will have a lot more knowledge and experience over someone who is in their 20s. That is not to say that they do not know the same information, but it is not just book knowledge that they need. Maturity, emotional intelligence, and common sense are also factors that are needed to be innovative. Global competition drives countries to keep coming up with new innovations. Many countries want to be the best of the best so to speak and the more advancements in technology that they have, the greater chance they have at being the best or more powerful.

Moral and ethical dilemmas are a big issue when it comes to technology. There are so many risks associated with technology that could greatly impact people's lives. Personal information, privacy, and safety are big risk factors. Information could be leaked or used against people. Sustainability and environmental concerns also play a critical role. Health can also be affected through things such as risky clinical studies/trials. There are plenty more ethical and moral dilemmas that come along with technology, but these are the ones that I believe to have the biggest impact.

Some of the ramifications for our generation with technology is that we have become far too reliant on it. Yes, technology is here to make our lives easier, but what happens if you get stranded somewhere with no cell service and you do not know how to read a map? Technology has made our lives so much simpler and easier that sometimes we forget how to do basic things on our own or we don't know what to do in certain situations without access to it.

There are many ways to affect change, but one way to affect change that could tie into the "men without work" situation is by improving working conditions. Men without work is a problem taking place, especially in America of men during their "prime" quitting their jobs or not actively seeking employment do to stress and other factors. By improving working conditions in the work place, it may make it less stressful and encourage workers to not quit, or may entice them to want to apply for a job there.

Person 2(shar):

The reason why we are experiencing low productivity numbers is because of economic uncertainty, layoffs, and a high rate of quitting. Also, the fact that there are declining wages, and the wages are not matching with the cost of living, which makes people not want to be as productive. Employees feel that since they are not compensated as they should that are not going to be as productive.

There is disparity between real value and marginal utility is that marginal utility is the value or worth of something to one person compared to others. Technology is productive to a certain extent in that it can be used for agencies to find sites that are shady and that may affect society. But there are cons with technology as sometimes it can fail and be inconsistent at times.The majority of created goods are built on raw materials. Workers employ their time and resources to transform these basic materials into the items we use on a daily basis by utilizing technology. Some products would not be possible for us to make without certain technology. Every product begins as something basic, but we can add value and create something new out of these raw elements thanks to technology.

Wealth to me is having assets, even if it may not be in the form of cash, to the maximum extent. It comes from various sources like stocks, bonds, and inheritances just to name a few. I feel technology does boost efficiencies versus productivity because it increases the rate at which tasks are being done. I think we can innovate our way out of ths as we are learning new things daily. The younger generation seem to be comming up with innovative methods daily which can definitely help.

Far reaching ramifications for this generation is that we have been very dependent on technology that we are not privy to use and create things without technology. This can be a problem because technology is not always reliable and if we do not have that then we will not be able to create things. I will affect change by making others feel comfotrtable in work environments that I am in. In relation to "men without work," it's about giving people the tools they need to acquire new skills and discover fulfilling careers in a world that is constantly changing.
