Participants (a total of 124) were recruited for a food purchase tendency experiment. There are 3 types of foods to be tested, French fries, salad and cookies. The participants were asked to rate their frequency to exercise (low exercise frequency vs. high exercise frequency). The participants were then randomly assigned to 2 groups to watch a movie. The 1St group watches a movie with people dining on vegetable salads in multiple scenes. The 2nd group is shown a movie without any dining scenes. A two-way ANOVA is used for analysis. The visual cue (salad dining scenes vs. no dining scenes) and exercise frequency are independent variables while the intention to purchase vegetable salads is dependent variable (the intention is rated on a number scale). The result shows that the participants who watched the salad dining scenes (F1, 118: 5.41, p 0.1). No signicant interaction effect was found for the other two types of foods (French fried: F1, 113:0.55, p>0.1; cookies: F1, 11320.06, p>0.1).
