The judge's services are free and available to all of us. In a situation where the parties to a dispute agree ( agreement by all parties is required to use a private judge just like any other ADR), the parties must pay for the services of the private judge and that is often hundreds of dollars per hour.
Private judging is often agreed by the parties when speed in resolution is desired and the parties do not want to wait for what is often years to obtain a courtroom and judge to conduct a trial .
Question : Like private arbitration , where an arbitrator makes a binding final decision which is not reviewable on appeal for errors of law or fact, a verdict from a private judge may be not appealed for error's of law like a judgment in a California Superior Court .
