Problem 3 ( 3 points total) Polystyrene is a commodity polymer that is clear, hard, and brittle. It can be found in products ranging from red Solo cups to lithium-ion batteries. Polystyrene is produced by the polymerization of the monomer styrene (C8H8). Consider a chemical plant that manufactures C8H8. The plant has a 105mol/hr inlet stream at a temperature of 773K. This stream has a composition of fifty mole percent hydrogen (H2), thirty mole percent ethyl benzene (C8H10), and twenty mole percent C8H8. Upon entering the plant, the inlet stream is first cooled, partially condensed, and finally separated into vapor and liquid streams in a single stage equilibrium flash drum. To avoid potential possible explosive reactions between hydrogen and organics, the vapor stream leaving the flash drum must contain no more than 0.2 mole percent C8H8. This entire process occurs at atmospheric pressure. Calculate the following. A. The temperature of the product stream before it enters the flash drum (C) B. The molar flowrate of the vapor stream leaving the flash drum (kmol/hr) C. The mole fraction of C8H10 in the vapor stream leaving the flash drum
