A professional portfolio is an organized collection of relevant documents and artifacts that showcases your talents, most relevant skills, and charts your professional growth. A professional portfolio can be created and used for any discipline or profession (teaching, art, research, nursing, journalism, etc.)

Please take advantage of the on-line resources for our Career Center. There are resources on the website under the Career Development tab, that may assist you with some of the contents of your Professional Portfolio. There are also Events and Workshops that you can take advantage of as well. If you have time, please feel free to to visit the career center on line.

Please make sure you access the Professional Portfolio Assignment Sheet so you know what is expected from you for the assignment.

Each part of this assignment must be typed and displayed in a professional manner.

ALL the following items MUST be included in order in your professional portfolio:

1. Table of Contents-5 points

2. Job Announcement- 5 points

The job announcement is the job you are applying for and to who your cover letter is addressed

The announcement could be from a newspaper, agency website or an hiring organization

3.Cover Letter- 25 points

The cover letter gives you a chance to express why you are interested in a specific position, express your interest, and highlight your strengths and qualifications.

4. Resume- 25 points

Resumes are a continually changing and growing summary of your education,

experience, and qualifications

Keep this limited to 1-2 pages, depending on the amount of your experience

5. Educational Philosophy- 25 points

This is a summary of what you believe about children and learning.

6. A 5-Year Career Plan- 25 points

You may be creative in your written presentation
