Project Statement Using the steam tables, design a Rankine Cycle that uses HO as its fluid and has the following properties: a 1) The cycle has a single turbine, a single condenser, a single pump, and a single boiler 2) The turbine has an efficiency of 70% 3) The quality of the steam leaving the turbine must be at least 85% (i.e.q2 0.85) 4) The condenser must remove at least 1800 kJ / kg of heat 5) The stream exiting the condenser is saturated liquid 6) Liquid water may be assumed to have a constant molar volume with respect to pressure, but not temperature (i.e. the molar volume of liquid water changes as temperature changes but remains constant as pressure changes) 7) The boiler can add no more than 2150 kJ / kg of heat 8) The stream exiting the boiler is saturated vapor 9) The overall efficiency of the cycle must be at least 15.5% (i.e. 12 0.155) 10) The overall cycle must produce a net rate of shaft work per unit mass of at least 330 kJ/kg
