PTION $1-$ Landscape Company

Problem Description

A landscaping company currently has no software systems or experience using a software

system, everything is achieved using paper methods currently. The landscaping company must

track their customers, including each customers schedule for when their landscaping needs

servicing, what services need to be performed each time and need to ensure the system takes

care of sending invoices and tracking payments received. The landscaping company would also

like to be as efficient as possible, making sure they schedule customers who live close to each

other on the same day. This would save gas and time, to not have to drive far between

customers. A daily map of their route would be an excellent benefit to help with efficiently as

well.

The company has $5$ employees. One employee does in office work $($answering the phone,

handling invoices, billing and payments$).$ The other $4$ employees perform the actual work in

two teams $($pairs$)$ to complete the landscaping jobs for the day.

On the second page is a sample of the paper invoice form the company uses to track what

services the customer required.

You will choose ONE of the subsystems below to write the requirements for:

o This subsystem is used by the office employee to create customers and schedule

jobs into the system.

o The job scheduled may be for a new customer or an existing customer.

$$ Subsystem $2$: Billing Customers

o This subsystem is used by the office employee to send out invoices and process

payments from customers

$$ Subsystem $3$: Performing Jobs

o This subsystem is used by the landscaping employees to know what jobs they are

completing, what tasks need to be done and where the jobs are. The subsystem

also needs to notify the office of when the job is complete.

OPTION $2$ Counselling Office

Problem Description

A counselling office currently has no software systems or experience using a software system,

everything is achieved using paper and phone methods currently. The office would like a

system where clients can submit requests for appointments, view their upcoming appointments

and are able to ensure the system takes care of sending invoices and tracking payments

received. A calendar view of each day for each counsellor will be required to keep the

counsellor on schedule.

The office has $6$ employees. Two employees who are at the reception desk $($answering the

phone, handling invoices, billing and payments$).$ There are $3$ employees who are counsellors at

the office. Then there is an office manager. They handle issues with scheduling conflicts and

billing.

On the second page is a sample of the information required to book an appointment.

o This subsystem is used by the counsellors to see their day

o The counsellor updates each appointment after the fact with notes on billing

information and when the client should return for their next session. The system

should handle these requests.
