Purpose of the assignment: The purpose of this exercise it to have you actually design a simple experiment in order to apply the material discussed in class and in the chapter. By doing this activity, you should gain an appreciation for the rigor of designing an experiment and the assumptions a researcher must make when conducting an experiment.
Description: REPLICATION of one of the 5-psychology research done previously by scholars: Reciprocity, Compliance, Framing effect, Loss aversion, Conformity,
The reading is on blackboard.
Choose psychological theory and based on it and on your understanding and the course material, answer the following questions:
- What were the independent variable (s) they've manipulated?
- What were the dependent variable (s) and why? How the dependent variable is measured or could be measured? Which scale do you propose?
- What is the type of the experimental design. Discuss in detail
- Were there any moderator variables? What might be some interesting moderating factors to manipulate or measure?
- What are the extraneous factor that are not controlled in the experiment (check your readings and power points)
- What did the field experiment reveal about consumer psychology?
- What are the marketing implications?
- Discuss the internal and external validity of the experiment
- If you have to design again the experimentation, explain how you will do it in detail (you can be inspired from replications done in the literature review by authors who repeated these studies)
