Q3 If an RF signal generator is connected across an infinitely-long transmission line, the generator will set up a voltage across the line, which forces a current to flow. If it were possible to measure the voltage and current at uniformly spaced intervals, when AC power is being conveyed from left to right, it would be found that the ratio of voltage to current at each point is constant. The voltage/current ratio is the impedance which would be measured if the line was cut at any point. This impedance is called the line's characteristic impedance (Zo).
