The first is a problem that I have asked people to sketch out an approach for in job interviews. It is simply this:

Given a year in the modern era, tell me if it is a leap year.

Rule: A year is a leap year, if it is a multiple of four, unless it is a multiple of 100. Oh, and if it is a multiple of 400, then it is a leap year. If this isn't clear, google it!
