Question 1
Imagine you are the leader of a software development team that consists of 10
developers, and your client the Minister and CEO of the Department for
Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) of the UK has engaged your team
to develop a software application to help people to manage their footprint to
reduce carbon emissions when they travel locally, domestically, and
internationally (e.g. walking, cycling, car, bus, ferry, plane) in regard to the UK
Climate Change Strategy 2021-2024. The Minister and CEO are a little unsure of
the exact nature of the application, but they do know they need an initial release in
one month (or earlier if possible). You let them know that your team follows an
Agile design and planning process and that you will explore the domain and
express your recommended concept via a report.
Part A: Please write a report, which should:
Outline the personas considered (at least 5), and explain why you decided
to focus on one of the personas for this first release. Please use the same
format used in class:
a) For the brief personas (name + role + picture)
b) For the chosen persona (name + role + picture + quote + relevant
biography)
Cover the stories you generated for the chosen persona (at least 10). Hint:
you should use the same format used in class for each user story: a title,
number, acceptance criteria, and an estimate of story points (also include
best and worst case).
Cover the release plan, including the goal of each time-box and what
stories will be delivered in that time-box. Your release plan must include 4
x 1 week time-box sprints and must include at least one release to the
public. Please also include your rationale for deciding the team's capacity
for each sprint, and why you think that this release plan makes the most
sense for the client. Burn down charts should be included for each sprint
and design UI prototypes (e.g. paper and or digital).
