Type Purchase Price Cost of Vehicle Usage Maintenance Per Year for the Mitsubishi Lancer next 10 years Highway Patrol and RM110,000 RM5,000 Normal Patrol Mitsubishi Pajero Highway Patrol and VIP RM140,000 RM4,000 Escort Proton Inspira and RM70,000 Highway Patrol RM8,000 Normal Patrol PDRM needs at least 30 new patrol cars for highway patrol and at least 50 patrol cars for normal patrol and no more than 20 patrol cars for VIP escort. PDRM is given a budget of RM30 million for this purchase. PDRM is instructed by Treasury Department Malaysia to purchase the minimum quantity of vehicles that will fulfill its needs within the given budget. These new patrol fleet is only used for 10 years.
