Question 1 The COVID-19 pandemic has hindered progress in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals ("SDGs"). Some of the affected SDGs include SDG 3 (good health and wellbeing), SDG 4 (quality education) and SDG 8 (decent work and economic growth). One of the most affected SDG is probably SDG 3 as healthcare facilities were strained and overwhelmed. Many students were also impacted during the lockdowns in various countries. And unemployment surged in the travel and tourism industry which were badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Yet, there were some positive impacts which the COVID-19 pandemic had on the SDGs. While COVID-19 was still raging, Singapore's government pushed ahead with its ambitious sustainability strategy to build back an even stronger economy and society in the post-pandemic era - the Singapore Green Plan 2030 (See https://greenfiscalpolicy.org/singapore-governmentpushes-ahead-with-green-plan-2030/) And in early 2022, Singapore's Government announced that it is targeting zero net emissions by 2050, and it released the Energy 2050 Committee Report, which discussed the use of lowcarbon hydrogen, low-carbon alternatives such as nuclear energy, renewable energy (namely solar energy), tapping on regional power grids and managing energy demand as possible sustainability strategies.

Consider the Singapore government's sustainability strategy in the Singapore Green Plan, and discuss how the targets set for each pillar of the strategy seek to meet the SDG goals.
