Question 2 (15 Marks) The cashbook of Brickland shows a debit balance of RM142,544.50 on December 31, 2020. The bank statement received for the month showed a credit balance of RM101,088. On comparing the cashbook with the bank statement, the following were noted by the accounts executive. 1. Direct payments made to suppliers on behalf of Brickland Berhad through the company's bank for RM42,500 were not yet recorded in the cashbook. 2. Emas Industries Sdn Bhd, a customer, made a direct deposit into the company's bank on 29th December 2020 for RM15,439. 3. Cash sales of RM975.20 on December, 21 were deposited in the bank. The cash receipts journal entry and the deposit slip were incorrectly made for RM925.70. The bank credited Brickland Berhad for the correct amount. 4. Bank charges amounting to RM275 appear on the Bank Statement but not in the company's records. 5. A deposit entry of RM6,500 which appears in the cashbook at 31 December 2020 had not yet been credited in the bank statement. 6. The last cheque entered in the cash payment, No. 003221, for RM11,100 appears in the bank statement as RM1,110. An examination of the cashbook reveals that the bank figure is correct. 7. ARM4,500 note receivable was collected by the bank for Brickland Berhad on December, 31 plus RM120 interest. The bank charged a collection fee of RM30. No interest has been accrued on the note. 8. A cheque amounting to RM16,800 which was recorded as a receipt in the cashbook was returned to the firm by the bank, stamped with the word insufficient funds. 9. The firm had recorded a cheque received for RM480 as a cheque for RM930. The bank statement showed a correct amount. 10. A monthly direct debit payable to a leasing company for RM5,000 was wrongly paid twice by the bank Required: Prepare the bank reconciliation at 31 December 2020. [15 marks]
