This quote really peaked my interest because it is so applicable in this age of social media. I believe most social media users fall into two groups when it comes to reading claims on the internet. The first group are the people who fall into the trap of reading a headline, or a post about anything, and believeing it to be true. The second group are the people that don't believe anything they see online and they lack trust in all claims or posts on social media. Whenever a claim is made online, whether that be politically or scientifically you need to take it with a grain of salt. There are a ton of "Snake Oil Salesman" that linger on social media, making claims that are intentionally deceptive or scaring people into buying their product. As a rule of thumb for me, I won't buy a product off of the internet or social media without doing research on the product and seeing what other people have to say. Social media has turned people with little knowledge of a certain topic into "experts" with the ability to mislead a vast amount of their followers into believing their claims. Doing your own research with an open and objective mind is how I think more people should be getting their information.
