Reactor Separator C2H4 02 Inert CzH40 H2O CO Figure Q2 Figure Q2 shows the production of ethanol (C_H40) from ethylene (CH4) and oxygen. The reactor effluent consists of 25 mol% CH4, 48 mol% CH40, 3 mol% 02, 2 mol% CO2, 2 mol% H20 and 20 mol% Inert. Unreacted 10% of oxygen from the feed stream is discovered at the reactor's outlet stream. With the excess of oxygen, another reaction takes place, producing carbon dioxide and water. The reactions are shown as follows: 2C2H4 + 02 2C2H40 C2H4 + 302 2002 + 2 H2O The reactor effluent is fed into a separator to separate ethanol, carbon dioxide and water. The rest of the substances are being recycled. To avoid buildup of inert in the system, 5 mol/h of ethylene is withdrawn from the purge stream. (a) Using extent of reaction method, determine the single pass conversion of ethylene with 100 kmol/h of reactor effluent. (9 marks) (b) Determine the molar ratio of the recycle stream to purge stream. (7 marks) (e) Determine the molar flow rate of fresh feed and the mole fraction for each of the component. (6 marks) (d) Determine the overall conversion of ethylene of the above process
