I would like to share about the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which in my opinion is one of the most complete certifications in project management, especially because it does not have a single focus, understanding that a project can be from cooking a dish of food, building a house or the approach that we are giving in class which is to manage an IS project. To get this certification you must meet certain requirements such as having worked for 3 years or more managing projects and taking a 35-hour project management training course. These two prerequisites are sometime audited by the PMI and the applicant is required to send the documentation of support to the institution for its review. Once the application is approved, you must apply for the exam, which lasts almost 4 hours and has 180 questions and its current cost is 595 dollars for non-members, and this exam can be taken a maximum of 3 times in 1 year in case the applicant fails on the first and second attempts at no additional cost.

In my experience, I achieved my certification 5 years ago and my studies were audited, so I had to send from Peru my study certificates and labor certificates that prove my experience, the evaluation of the information did not take more than 3 days, but it can take up to 1 week according to PMI. Regarding the exam, we must know that it is recorded at a PMI partner entity because of that you cannot enter anything other than with paper and pencil, it is a single screen on a computer, and you cannot use calculators. As it sounds, it is a little scary but it is not, the exam, although based on the PMBOK guide (I had to read it like 4 times), is not a theoretical exam, it is a practical exam so I could say that 90% of the questions are of the type "What would you do if..." so I consider that is extremely important to take the exam with sufficient experience in people scope, time, cost and stakeholders management.
