Considering the ASA "Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice" present an example of a violation of these standards from the public record or your experience. What happened? How was it a violation? How was (or could it be) remedied? Conversely, if you have a specific example of a statistical practice that illustrates one of these principles, let's hear about that. Hint: Scientists publishing research using statistical data and methods must report a conflict of interest (e.g. you are investigating smoking but are funded by the American Tobacco Institute).

According to the website "Alleydog.com" Ethical guidelines or codes are used by groups and organizations to define what actions are morally right and wrong. The guidelines are used by group members as a code with which to perform their duties. In addition to that, the website " ASA" states that The American Statistical Association's Ethical Guidelines for Statistical Practice are intended to help statistics practitioners make decisions ethically. Additionally, the ethical guidelines aim to promote accountability by informing those who rely on statistical analysis of the standards they should expect. The discipline of statistics links the capacity to observe with the ability to gather evidence and make decisions, providing a foundation for building a more informed society. Because society depends on informed judgments supported by statistical methods, all practitioners of statisticsregardless of training and occupation or job titlehave an obligation to work in a professional, competent, respectful, and ethical manner.

One of the examples of violation of ethical guidelines is the violation of company's policy. For example, as we know every organization has its policy that should be followed. One of the common violations of ethical guidelines that I see is a secret relationship between managers and their subordinates. In my home country, I have seen many women get hired without any qualifications such as college degree. They simple get hire because the manager is interested in having an affair with them. On the other hand, someone with all the qualifications was denied the job. And, usually when the manager does that, he lies on the person's resumes just to keep that person working in there. Many times the person that are in charge of doing research, and collecting data finds out, but he does not report due to fear of manager's retaliation, or because he has been stealing the company along with the manager. As a result of that violation, the company might suffer negative consequences due to the person not having enough skills to perform the job. Hiring someone without a college degree when the job requires a college degree is a violation of the ethics of guidelines. And a researcher could have prevented this if he had reported to the company.
