Classmate: Looking back at the first discussion unit, there were many arguments I made that I would change now. After watching more superhero movies I have gotten the grasp that my argument wasn't all the theatrics and how dramatic it is. This was not the turn-off for me, however, it did seem to be a selling point because most superhero movies are blockbusters. My argument now would have been that I tend to steer away from blockbuster movies in general because they are specifically made to make money. Now, of course, this happens in all movies, however, the more independent or indie films seem to have more meaningful messages in the movies without the explosions and fireworks. I am more open now to watching superhero movies because I realized my argument was biased. I learned to step away from my perspective and give this genre of film a chance, and although it is still not my favorite it can be enjoyable to watch. My argument did not really make sense as I love horror and many people can make similar arguments to it as I did to superhero movies. In horror there is a lot of shock factor that is meant to scare, but aside from that there is no meaningful idea behind it. Now I would have focused more on why certain movies are mainstream and how superhero movies fall under that branch the most.
