You are required to design a simple website for the company where you work which will allow employees to capture birthdays and to sign up for birthday celebrations.

If you are unemployed you need to contact a business in your area and obtain permission from them to design the site based on their business information.

The site must consist of a MAXIMUM of THREE pages!

1.The site must be responsive, thus it must be able to adapt to being used on a computer and a mobile device (chapter 12).

2.The site must incorporate at least 3 different font types, no more, no less (chapter 5).

3.The page layout must have clearly defined sections such as header, side, footer, etc. (chapter 7).

4.At least 5 images related to the business must be included (chapter 8).

5.Navigation between the three pages must be very clear (chapter 9).

Page 1 = Home Page

1.The name and logo or brand of the business must be displayed on the home page.

2.A short description of what the business does must be provided.

3.A short description of YOUR role in the business must be provided.If you are unemployed you should write what you would like your role to be in the business you are developing the site for.

4.There must be a table (chapter 10) which represents a calendar with year, month and days.

5.The home page should also contain a minimum of 5 images related to the business.

Page 2 - Create Celebration

1.Design a form (chapter 11) which the user can complete to create a birthday celebration

2.The form should allow for capturing of:

a.the name of the person who's birthday it is

b.a short birthday message

c.time and date of the birthday celebration

d.duration of the celebration

e.venue of the celebration

f.allow the user options to select whether refreshments will be served:

i.such as tea and biscuits if it's a short celebration

ii.finger lunch if its more than 2 hours

iii.sit down lunch if its more than 4 hours

g.the name and contact details (phone number, office number and e-mail address) of the person scheduling the celebration

1.Design a form where a user can sign up for a celebration

2.The form should allow for capturing of:

a.name and contact details (phone number, office number and e-mail address) of the person attending the celebration

b.list of celebrations should be shown in a select list

c.using radio buttons the user should indicate if they will partake in the refreshments or not

  • There must be a table of content with page numbers where different sections of the assignment can be located.
  • The font used must be Arial, size 12, single line spacing, A4 page size in portrait.
  • Student number must be in the header of each page.
  • Page number must be in the footer right corner of each page.
  • Each section of the assignment must have a clear heading, which correlates to the table of content.

Use the headings tool in Microsoft Word to provide headings for each section mention in your Assignment 9 document. Use the page numbering tool in Microsoft Word to add page numbers to the bottom right corner of the pages. Use the Table of Contents tool in Microsoft Word to create your table of contents.

Use the Shapes functions in Microsoft Word to add the flowchart to your Assignment 9 document

  • Create filename for each page

  • Describe flow chart and provide reasons why particular structure was selected

4.Wireframes

Use one of the freeware programs provided on page 103 for this purpose, use a screen capture tool to capture the image and paste it in your Microsoft Word Assignment 9 document

5.HTML pages (3)

Use your text editor to write the code, Notepad, Notepad++, Notepad 2, once your HTML code is complete, copy the code and paste it into the Microsoft Word Assignment 9 document

  • Use the HTML code provided in the Chapter activities and Hands-on Projects and adapt those to your specific needs.
  • Do NOT include any style sheet elements in your HTML code
  • Apply your external style sheet to each of your HTML pages

6.External Style Sheet

Use your text editor to write the code, Notepad, Notepad++, Notepad 2, once your CSS code is complete, copy the code and paste it into the Microsoft Word Assignment 9 document

In your Microsoft Word Assignment 9 document write down 6 of the class names you used in your CSS and explain what each of them does (refer to chapter 4 in the prescribed book for full details on class names)

  • Render your HTML pages in your preferred browser and make screen captures of each page
  • Add the screen capture for all 3 pages to the document, these must be clear images so we can determine if the CSS elements are implemented

9.Markup Validation

Use a screen capture tool to capture the image and paste it in your Microsoft Word Assignment 9 document

  • Use the markup validation tool described in chapter 1 to check the home page, gallery page, services page and contact us page.
  • Add the screen capture for the 4 pages to the document, these must be clear images so we can determine if the pages validated correctly.

10.Permission Letter

The permission letter the business has to sign can be downloaded from Additional Resources to the left of this screen.

11.Declaration Form

The declaration form indicates that this is your own work and that you did not receive undue assistance in completing the assignment.It must be downloaded from the Additional Resources to the left of this screen.

12.Rubric

Download the Rubric from Additional Resources on myUnisa and include it at the BOTTOM of your assignment.If you do not include the Rubric in the assignment we cannot mark it and you WILL be penalized for this, we WILL deduct 20% from your assignment mark.

You MUST give yourself a mark in the Student Mark column for each of the points in the rubric.This will ensure that you have complied with all the requirements set out for the assignment and the examination project.If you do not give yourself a mark we WILL deduct 10% from your assignment mark.

Your project should conform and include at least 50% of the requirements in order to be marked. In cases where the project lacks most of the requirements a 15% submission mark will be allocated only.

NO handwritten or hand drawn diagrams will be accepted or marked. We live in an ICT rich environment and various tools are available.

Please take pride in your work. The project could be included as part of a portfolio which you could use as part of your extended CV later.
