research proposal Do people believe music can be used to improve mood?

Abstract- The following paper describes a study on ____. There will be ____ subjects from Reading Area Community College who participated by (describe your procedure in part of a sentence.) This is all you need for the proposal- for the final paper, add a sentence about what you found. This is on a page by itself.

Lit review (don't label this)- you'll need 10 studies from your topic. Use the lit reviews and at least get down your in-text citations so those are done. Use the outline so you discuss more than one study in each paragraph. The last paragraph of that should be the purposes of your study. Say: The following paper describes a study about........ - then add a sentence with your overall research question. You will need both descriptive and experimental questions. The lit review for the proposal should remain the same for your final paper. The literature review needs to be about two pages long and discuss 10 studies. Each paragraph should start with a topic sentence and discuss 2 studies that support that topic.

Method

Subjects will be volunteers who are students or staff at Reading Area Community College. RACC is a diverse community college on the edge of a small city on the eastern coast of US. Re-word this to make it your own. In the final paper, you'll give the exact number of subjects. Future tense for the proposal, past for the final paper.

Participants will answer questions on MicroSoft Forms after agreeing that their participation implies their consent. Statements will have Likert options and participation is anonymous.

(This is where you will state your specific procedures and write out your actual survey statements and choices) Copy and paste the Likert choices here beneath each of your 3 statements. You'll at least use a Likert survey for the experiment section as pre and post tests with a variable in between that tries to change the post test answers.

Strongly Agree Agree Neutral Disagree Strongly Disagree

Results

After data is gathered, StatDisk will be used to perform (a t-test for the experiment to find the difference between groups (experiment study) or an r correlation to find the relationship between the variables(descriptive study). Results are presented in the following tables. (you need several small tables for both the descriptive and experimental results- you'll copy these from StatDisk, but list a sample table for your proposal) (use t-test for your experimental study to see if your treatment created a different between the groups; use an r- correlation for the descriptive study to see what the relationship between each of your variables is)

Descriptive tables ( need 3)

R correlation
critical r
p value

Experimental Tables ( probably 3)

T test
Critical T
p value

Discussion

One paragraph explaining the results of your study, one about the uses/clinical implications for your research findings and one about the next steps in research on this topic.
