Researchers are testing a drug that they hope will lower blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. 20 participants who have type 2 diabetes are randomly assigned to take either the drug or a placebo. After 6 weeks, each subject's blood sugar level is recorded. The blood sugar levels of the subjects (in mg/dL) are listed below: Drug: 108.3, 117.2, 117.8, 119.2, 108.2, 123.7, 112.4, 103.8, 112, 126.5 Placebo: 134.3, 127.3, 122.5, 133.2, 127.3, 123.5, 122.9, 136.9 , 162.6, 124.1 On your paper in the space provided, write the following number: 7970. This lets me know which data set you have. Perform a pooled 2-sample t-test to determine whether there is evidence that the drug lowers blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes. Make sure to include all steps. Write your answers in the space provided on your paper. Step 1: State hypotheses. Step 2: Check conditions. Be specific as to why each condition is or isn't met. Even if one or more conditions are not met, continue with the rest of the hypothesis test. Step 3: Calculate the test statistic, the degrees of freedom, and the P-value. If you calculated the test statistic by hand, show your work. If you used RStudio to find any values, write down the command that you entered to get the values. Step 4: State the conclusion of the test, both using statistical language and in the context of the problem. Use a significance level of a = 0.05
