I believe that emotional intelligence has become a cornerstone of modern organizational leadership because leaders have to make difficult decisions. A lack of emotional intelligence inhibits a leader's ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with others. Leaders with high emotional intelligence can have the ability to inspire others and allow them to have great communication skills. Once I worked as a dietary aid and the kitchen manager was a very empathetic person. She would call workers out in front of residents or residents' family members. On my very last day working there, I was 7 months pregnant and she followed me from the kitchen to the break room to tell me how bad of a job I had done, and the things I didn't do.
