Personally, I find myself among those who oppose the death penalty. The thought of making irreversible mistakes and taking innocent lives is a heavy burden to bear, contradicting our fundamental sense of humanity. The inequalities and injustices that permeate its application only deepen my conviction. Instead, I believe in seeking justice through compassion, rehabilitation, and addressing the root causes of crime. And given the exorbitant costs, both financial and moral, associated with the death penalty, I believe we should focus our resources on creating a more equitable and humane system of justice.
