I say this because in most states, at-will employment means that an employer can discharge at anytime for any reason, unless the discharge is for things like retaliation or discrimination. Jack was not in a union and didn't have a contract, so Acme doesn't have to give him a reason. Acme's probably not responsible for the fight between Morris and Jack because Jack wasn't doing his job when the fight happened. Companies are usually only responsible for things their employees do while they are working. The fight was not related to work and was personal, Acme most likely won't be help responsible for the injuries on Morris. But, if Morris can show that Acme was negligent in allowing the fight to happen, Acme might get hit with some liability for failing to prevent the situation, but that is probably not going to happen
