Revise the following text to reflect an active voice (opposite of passive voice). For example: 'The report must be filed' reflects a passive voice, while 'File the report' reflects an active voice. For more information, see Business Communications Essentials, pages 92 and 103.

Changing Your Smoke Detector Battery

• Remove the cover The cover must be gently pried open from its base by using a slight twisting motion. Inside will be found three main parts: the sensing chamber, a loud horn, and a battery power source
• Replace the battery The old battery must be unclipped from its holder. A 9-volt battery is taken by most units. Using a lithium 9-volt battery is advised because they last longer than non-lithium batteries.
• Close the cover The cover must be snapped back into its base.
• Test the detector The test button on the surface of the detector must be pressed to make sure the battery is working. When the button is pressed, a beep or chirp should be heard.
