The four quadrants of performance management are the following: performance standards, performance measures, reporting of progress and quality improvement process" (Shi & Johnson 2014). These four tools can be used by public health leaders and directors to measure the accountability and effectiveness of various public health programs. Performance standards are goals set in place that include desired performance targets. This explains what needs to be accomplished. Performance measures is the quantitative data that measures the performance standards and how overall performance. This helps to measure how successful the performance actually is or helps identify what areas need to be improved. This also helps to make sure that everything is on track to reach the initial goal. Reporting of progress is giving the results of the performance to organizational leaders and managers
