The first of thesefour conversations took place the day after Rowe was admitted. Thesons informed the treating physician that their father had no financialmeans but that they themselves would pay for such services. Duringthe other conversations, the sons authorized whatever treatment theirfather needed, assuring the hospital that they would pay for theservices. After Rowes discharge, the hospital brought this actionagainst the sons to recover the unpaid bill for the services rendered totheir father.
