SCENARIO 1: Marcus is the school division's BCBA who is consulting with an elementary school. Sara and Jean are 3rd graders who have been referred to him for assistance because the teacher has complained that they are too "hyperactive" in their regular classes. When the regular classroom teachers were interviewed, they defined this hyperactivity as not attending during the reading lessons. Instead of looking at their books, or looking at or listening to the teacher, the girls were either looking out the window or scribbling in their notebooks. Marcus decided to deal with this problem and both girls at the same time while they were in the special education classroom. Marcus structured a 20-minute reading lesson for the girls and has the paraprofessional take interval data on their "attending".
