Scenario Dinsani Chocolates makes chocolates that are sold in retail stores. It has been in operation for over 50 years and currently employs 200 workers in its factory. The current production process is very manual with many tasks being completed by individual workers. Dinsani's workforce has a wide cultural mix with most workers being migrants who have arrived in Australia within the last forty (40) years. Many of the workers have retained their native language for conversations at home and a large percentage have a poor standard of English as they often also communicate using their native language whilst at work. At least 40 of the 120 production line workers are aged 55+. Management is strongly committed to workforce diversity and social inclusion and currently employs three (3) workers in wheelchairs who work in the quality control area of production. The company has decided to spend $2 million to modernise the chocolate production line. This work will be completed within six months and will ultimately result in the loss of 25 production line jobs. It is anticipated that the three (3) workers in wheel chairs will retain their positions. The General Manager has given this transition project the name "GoC hoc\".
