Putpose: Static charges are able to build up on a variety of objects when they are rubbed together. Some objects will donate electrons, other will receive/take on electrons - this depends on the materials of which they are composed. What charges do different materials take on? Materials: - ebonite rods - fur - acetate sheets - balloon - plastic wrap - glass rods - plastic rulers - small paper pieces - running water - pith ball electroscope - a pith ball is a very small, lightweight object that picks up electric charge quite well; a charged pith ball works well to show the electric forces between two charged objects Procedure: During this experiment, you will visitlobserve eight stations. Record your results in the provided Observations Table. Be sure to read \& follow the procedure at each station carefully. STATION 1 1. Place the part of the balloon labeled " A " against your hair and rub it vigorously. 2. Quickly place " A "against the wall and record your observations below. 3.
