Question 1 (25 marks)

Read the following passage and answer the question that follows.

XYZ is a food processing company with a workforce composed of employees from different racial, academic and religious backgrounds. XYZ is a fast-expanding company which is also popular amongst work-seekers because of good remuneration and wage scales. In its expansion it introduced a modernised electronic processing division, due to pressure from rival companies. This was a quick decision resulting in managers, not considering the work force problems that later occurred.. A sizeable number of XYZ employees are not qualified or trained to work in this new modernised environment. Managers of XYZ called a short meeting to share their final decision. Almost 95% of the employees were left in shock and mixed feelings. It was a week full of frustrations among the employees. When the employees threatened to undertake industrial action and strike on the grounds of management's decision, management was caught in a dilemma. Required: a. As a Change Management Specialist, advise the management on what they could have done as far as change management concerns. (8 marks) b. Change has to be managed because people generally fear and resist change. From your advice on 'a', further advice the management who did overlook some concepts on any five fears induced by change. (17 marks)

Read the following passage and answer the questions that follows:

"Management of Auto Techno Products, in its operations, did not consider communication as an important tool in driving the organisation change process. A lot of failures have been witnessed as far as implementing and management of change concerns, but not rectified since the root cause was never identified. However, one of the management team heard of the Kotters 8 step model but cannot fully explain to the other workmates".

Required: Present the stages underlying Kotters 8 step model to the management team. (Your presentation should comprise of the introduction, body and conclusion)
