Pete has no previous convictions for criminal behaviour. He has a supportive family and was a respected university lecturer prior to his imprisonment. Cody has 9 previous convictions for violence and drug-related offending and is a member of a gang. Who is at the greater risk of reoffending once released and why? Refer to static and dynamic risk factors in your answer. OR B. Gordon (45 years old) is in prison for multiple sexual offences committed against three girls aged between 8 and 10 years old. Gordon was married for 15 years to a similar aged female, and his marriage ended following his convictions for sexual offending. Media reports suggested that Gordon was a "paedophile" and could not be helped. Offer a critique of the media reports, addressing (i) whether Gordon's offending makes him paedophilic and (ii) how Gordon can/cannot be helped.
