Shell startup configuration using Linux

1. Edit the ~/.profile file to add a piece of script to display the current date; save the file.

2. Type login in an open terminal to login with the current user and see the effect.

3. Edit the ~/.bashrc file to add a piece of script to display current date; save the file.

4. Open a terminal from the taskbar in GUI and see the effect.

I'm having some issue with what was answered. Could you please provide screenshots? I'm new in Linux and I'm having some issues. Thanks
