The client you previously consulted for requires assistance to improve its social media presence and wants to work with social media influencers. You have to identify which influencers the company should work with. You also have to collect data on the influencers and give a presentation to your client on why you decided to work with the influencers you selected.
Part I: Instagram Influencer Assignment
Step 1: Identify 5 instagram influencers in a sector of your client (i.e. restaurants, local retailers, health clubs, etc).
- Log into your Instagram account.
- Write down the user handles of your Top 3 client picks out of the 5 you initially identified on Instagram (ex: @pizzahut, @tacobell, @nike, @blklivesmatter, @patron, etc).Note:only use profiles that are set to public. You can check this by attempting to view an account on Instagram. If you are not following an influencer and the page displays the word "Private," then the profile is set to private; do not use private profiles.
Step 2: Input the social media handle for each Instagram influencer into Phlanx
- Go to thePhlanx Instagram Engagement Calculator.(Links to an external site.)
- Input the user handle for each of your selected influencers. Take screenshots. Note down their engagement scores and follower count.
Step 3: Take the score generated by Phlanx and place into a spreadsheet for analysis
- On the provided Excel template,input the data you noted down from earlier:Instagram_Influencers_Template_Example.xlsx
- Develop a graph to determine a correlation between the number of followers and the engagement rate. Use the Excel Data Analysis ToolPak. Refer to Chapter 6, page 115-119 in the Data Analytics Bootcamp textbook for information on correlations.Or you can also refer to the following video resource on another way to get your correlationcoefficient for number offollowers and the engagementrate.
- Rank social media influencers based on their perceived effectiveness for marketing purposes and explain of why you think each influencer is effective or not effective.
Part 2: Generate a Google Forms Survey
- Generate a Google Forms Survey to analyze the efficacy of each influencer.FYI - You will use this Google Form (Survey) to send to an email list in your next digital marketing analytics assignment.Using Google Forms(Links to an external site.)
- Refer to Chapter 4 of yourAnalytics Bootcamptextbook for best practices on survey design. Design your survey to gather data that may help you to determine the validity of an influencer.Feel free to include one open-ended question (see page 85 from Analytics Boot Camp).For example, What do you like about the DVC's Social Media Newsletter?
PART 3: REFLECTION
On a Word and/or Excel document answer the following:
- Which influencer has the strongest correlation to create influence? Is the correlation positive, negative, or non-existent? (show your work in Excel)
- Of the influencers that you reviewed, who would you pay for a promotion? Why?
- Imagine that you have a budget of $1,000/mo to work with social media influencers. Would you allocate the budget to multiple influencers you selected or just one? Why?
